Doris’s Testimony

There are people in our community whose presence quietly strengthens everyone around them. Doris has become one of those people.

Today, she is a dependable and comforting presence—a source of strength in our community. Through her prudence and discernment, she brings wisdom, steadiness, and care in the way she walks with others.

We celebrate today what God has been forming over time.

About a year ago, Doris had an experience that became an important step in what God was doing in her life. We wanted to share part of her testimony with you, because it helps us see more clearly the work that God has been doing—and continues to do.

Hi, I’m Doris, and I’d like to share something God has done in my life.

Last year, I had the opportunity to travel to Honduras. From the moment we arrived, I felt something I didn’t expect—I felt safe, welcomed, and part of a community.

During that time, we spent each morning in devotion, and I began to sense that God was speaking to me in a personal way.

One day, I shared my testimony.

To be honest, I felt very vulnerable. For a long time, I carried questions and pain from my past—wondering why I had gone through certain experiences and holding on to fear and resentment.

But as I shared, something began to change.

I realized that I was no longer telling my story from a place of anger, but from a place of gratitude.

I could see how God had been present all along—protecting me, caring for me, and bringing me through difficult situations. Even in the hardest moments, He had not left me.

Now, I am beginning to understand that both the good and the painful parts of my story have shaped my heart. God is using them to help me care for others, to listen with empathy, and to speak words of comfort and truth.

Today, my prayer is that I would continue to trust Him, feel safe in His presence, and become a reflection of His love in the lives of others.

Over the past year, we have seen God continue to answer that prayer.

Doris has grown into someone who brings stability, discernment, and compassion into the lives of those around her. The same story she once shared from a place of vulnerability is now bearing fruit in the way she walks with children, families, and our Community.

This is what we mean when we talk about long-term discipleship.

God is patient. He works overtime. And He forms lives that begin to reflect His character in real and visible ways.

Thank you for being part of a Community where this kind of transformation is possible.
