A Story of Care, Protection, and Hope

Jose is a quiet, creative child who has been part of EA since 2024. From the beginning, his teachers noticed his gift for building. He loves working with blocks and creating 3D Lego designs, and this talent has often given him joy, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment.
At the same time, Jose has struggled to learn to read and write fluently. As he continued participating at EA, we began to see him grow in confidence, and his teacher, Miss Fabiola, felt hopeful that with patience and support, he would continue making progress.
But near the end of last year, the team noticed a painful change. Jose began to withdraw. He stopped playing and regressed in his learning. Earlier this year, when he returned to EA, our team noticed concerning changes in his personal care and emotional well-being. As we paid closer attention, we became aware that he had experienced serious harm within his home.
The appropriate protective steps were taken, and our team began walking closely with Jose and his family through a process of care, healing, and restoration. His situation was very painful for Miss Fabiola and for the whole team. We cried, prayed, and asked God to protect Jose from lasting harm. While we were grateful to learn that his body had been spared serious injury, we knew his heart and sense of safety would need patient, loving care.
Today, we can say with joy that Jose is beginning to look like himself again. He is playing with Legos, running, laughing, participating, and slowly making progress in reading and writing. One of the most meaningful signs of growth is that he is beginning to read, little by little, in front of his classmates. For a child who has carried fear and insecurity, this is not a small thing. It is a sign that trust is being rebuilt.
We remain close to Jose and his family, trusting God to restore what trauma has wounded. Please pray for Jose’s continued protection and restoration, for healing within his family, and for the Community at EA to care for them with wisdom, tenderness, and Jesus’ love.
